True Fasting

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the
the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help and He will say: Here am I."

Isaiah 58: 6-9

This is the essence of true fasting. After we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal savior, we must perform our acts of kindness and love so that people will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.

When we accept Christ as our Savior we will rise to a new life in Him. May we be granted the strength to leave behind our old ways of living. Come inside and never leave, for we long to be close to Christ forever, Dear Lord.

Hi May,
That is the prayer of all Christians as we struggle against all the onslaught of the enemy. But the Lord is our strength and our portion forever. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

We can have the most beautiful churches, go every Sunday for the service, tell people how much we love God... But no everyone, who is talking "Lord! Lord!" will be in the Kingdom of God. The story of ancient Israel is good warning for us.

Yes, and very true, we had our different fasting ways. Me and Hubbz don't meat on Fridays, and Fridays is always a difficult cooking time for me coz he doesn't like fish or shrimps or crabs. Gosh. lols, and we abstain on Holy days like Lent too.

Hi Zimbabwe,
Yes, you are so right. External worship is not what the Lord requires but true worship from the heart. Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you always.

Hi MelCole,
Ang hirap naman nuon. Eh anong niluluto mo para sa mister mo kapag fasting kayo? Puro vegetables lang? Thanks for your visit and comments. God bless you all always.

This is a very beautiful song, Mel. I am blessed that I have a God who loves me. I have been through a lot of trials but He's faithfully sustained me all these years.
