Live By The Spirit As Children Of God

"For if you live according to the sinful nature,
you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to
death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,
because those who are led by the Spirit of God
are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you
a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit
of sonship.
And by Him we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that
we are God's children.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs
of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we
share in His sufferings in order that we may also
share in His glory."
Romans 8: 13-17

When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior and became born again, we became children of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of God. Now as children of God, we must put off our former way of life when we were yet slave to sin. We must live by the Spirit, sustained by the infinite grace of God. We must cooperate with the Holy Spirit for the full transformation of our lowly selves until we reach the whole measure of the fullness of Jesus Christ. Then we truly become the light of the world and the salt of the earth, doing our righteous fruits for the glory of our living God who has given us all spiritual gifts according to His infinite grace.

GREAT post! The Holy Spirit, and considering ourselves CHILDREN of God may be 2 of the biggest concepts that separate us from the other Abrahamic religions of Judaism and Islam. The other is realizing that we can't earn our way into God's presence, it can only be obtained through accepting the offering of the Savior.
Also love the video of Amazing Grace. It feels like my family song each time I hear it since the author, John Newton, is a relative. I am so happy that you found one with subtitles or words because I wanted to share it with a friend who is just learning about Christianity but I wanted one where the words were included, so thanks!!
Bless you Mel!

When I was still single and was stationed in Guam, a friend of mine used to invite me to an Iglesia church. The priest or pastor always tell the people to give up their material possessions and just live simply. But when I look around, most of them has a lot of blings in their body. Its a conflict of interest because you want to go to church to practice your religious beliefs but then again you are not living according to God's will. Sorry sir Mel if I am not making any sense, I just want to voice out my observation..

Hi Shiela,
As we walk more and more with the Lord, we learn more about Him that we never knew before. People laugh at us when we call ourselves children of God as though we are the ones who designated that title to ourselves. They do not know that it is God Himself who designated that title to all who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior in John 1:12 "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." I am glad that you are a descendant of John Newton who was the composer of the song Amazing Grace. This song has touched the live of millions of people since the time it was launched until the end of the ages when our Lord will have come to fecth His children. I hope and pray that you will have a healthier body and that you will finally be reunited with your husband. I pray for the very best for you and your loved ones my sister and friend in Christ. Thanks for your visit and inspiring comments. God bless you always.

Hi John,
When I was still teaching Bible studies at home cell groups and when I was still conducting seminars on salvation at our local church, I always remind my flocks not to associate with members of the local Iglesia ni Cristo and Jehovah's Witnesses for their teachings are against the teachings of God. They maintain that Jesus Christ is just a man although an exalted one. One has to immerse himself in the true knowledge of God through reading and study of the Bible- the word of God, so that one may not be misled by erroneous teachings. Thanks for your visit and comments. I am hoping and praying that Rylie will win the smiling contest. Never get tired of campaigning for her. In the end, God will give us the victory by His grace. God bless you always.
