Light Of The World, Salt Of The Earth

"You are the salt of the earth
But if the salt loses its saltiness,
how can it be made salty again?
It is no longer good for anything
except to be thrown out and trampled
by men.

You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and
put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on a stand, and it
gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine
before men, that they may see your
good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven."

Matthew 5: 13-16

Good works alone will never save us for that task was solely placed on the shoulders of our Lord Jesus Christ. But after we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal savior, we are admonished by God to become the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We must do our good deeds and examples of righteousness
for the Lord that His name will be glorified in all the earth.

Salt and light. I like this scripture and that the Lord used this for the example in us. He has made the scriptures INTERESTING, that we desire to study and interpret each and every word! Great post....I hopt that Ican be salt and light today. Jennifer

come by, I have a happy story to share. God is working in our lives and giving us affirmation of it!!!!!

Hi Jennifer,
Yes, I will go to your blog. We are nearing the rapture period and is now in the throes of PreTribulation. Be sure to follow the example of the 5 wise virgins who have extra oil to welcome the Bridegroom. Never be like the 5 foolish virgins who did not carry extra oil in them and when the shout of the Bridegroom's arrival came, they were lacking in oil and have to go out to buy some. But the door was shut to them and not even their anguished cry for the Bridegroom to open the door was not heeded by Him. These 5 foolish virgins are the backsliders, who after accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior, wallowed back to their sinful and worldly living. The Lord has these words to them, "depart from Me, I know you not." Be sure that you are Spirit filled (with sufficient oil) to be able to meet the Bridegroom when He comes for His bride during the rapture of the church. Thanks for your visit my sister in Christ. God bless you and your family always.

I'm grow up in cebu and i always love singing the cebuano version of this that goes: "Kung ang asin mawad-an sa iyang kaparat wala na kini kapuslanan" ("You are the salt of the earth But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything)

Yes, we are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its saltiness, it is good for nothing and is thrown away. May we never lose our saltiness
for the Lord.
