Light Of The World, Salt Of The Earth
"You are the salt of the earth
But if the salt loses its saltiness,
how can it be made salty again?
It is no longer good for anything
except to be thrown out and trampled
by men.
You are the light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and
put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on a stand, and it
gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine
before men, that they may see your
good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven."
Matthew 5: 13-16
Good works alone will never save us for that task was solely placed on the shoulders of our Lord Jesus Christ. But after we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal savior, we are admonished by God to become the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We must do our good deeds and examples of righteousness
for the Lord that His name will be glorified in all the earth.

THE BEATITUDES
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were
before you."
Matthew 5: 1-12
The Lord will take care of us in all our needs. We need only to be humble before Him, walk in His ways and acknowledge Him before men. Though we experience temporary pains and sufferings in this world, yet the Lord shall rescue us and vindicate us from all the evils that men will do against us. With the Lord as our good shepherd, we will never be shaken.

Jesus, The Bread Of Life
Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life.
He who comes to Me will never go hungry,
And he who believes in Me will never be thirsty.
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me
And whoever comes to Me I will never drive away.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me,
That I shall lose none of all that He has given Me,
But raise them up at the last day.
For My Father's will is that everyone who looks
to the Son and believes in Him shall have
eternal life,
And I will raise him up at the last day."
John 6: 35, 37, 39, 40
Jesus is the true bread of life. He who comes to Him will never be driven out. He will be sustained by the eternal love of God and will be raised to life at the last day.
He will enjoy eternal life with God forevermore.

Doing Good To All
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction;
the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal
life.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially
to those who belong to the family of believers."
Galatians 6: 7-10
Let us do good to all irregardless of the circumstances. Our good deeds become the sweet fruits of our tree that gives glory and honor to God wherever we may go.

The Lord Is Our Good Shepherd
"Therefore Jesus said again, I tell you the truth
I am the gate for the sheep.
All who came before Me were thieves and robbers,
but the sheep did not listen to them.
I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved.
He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.
I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
John 10: 7-11
We are the sheep. Jesus Christ is the good shepherd. He gives us not only
salvation and eternal life but abundant life as well. As long as we abide by our good shepherd, we shall never be wanting in our lives. Someday, there shall be but one flock and one shepherd.
